These two depictions of me are equally real. All of us are dynamic, complex individuals. Maintaining an image and pushing ourselves to fit an externally-defined or -influenced mould makes us ill. I try to be gentle with and accept myself but societal pressures evoke inner conflict for me, and I imagine for you as well.

We all develop a "self image" of ourselves which evolves throughout our lives. Defining ourselves gets complicated because we spend so much time trying, or being, what others expect of us. By adopting a more simple lifestyle we may find who we "really are" on the way.

Fellow at work, trying to figure me out, asks if I am into cars.
Hours into the shift it was, slow moment, and bored I answer back sharply, hopefully not too harshly, saying,
