Huawei Matebook E Go will get improved Linux support soon

Starting from the upcoming version of Linux, which is 6.15, the Huawei Matebook E Go series, which are the 2-in-1 laptops that use the ARM processor architecture instead of the x86_64 architecture, will get better support by utilizing the new open-source driver, the embedded controller (EC) driver.

This driver, which will be added to this version of Linux, is going to enable Linux to enjoy the following improvements, especially when using one of the Matebook E Go models:

• Working battery and charger monitoring
• Working charge controls
• Working Fn-lock key controls
• Working temperature sensors
• Better USB-C controls
• …and more.

This patch to the platform-drivers-x86 repository for Linux explains that it adds support for the embedded controller to the Linux 6.15 kernel for the following laptops:

• Huawei Matebook E Go LTE (sc8180x).
• Huawei Matebook E Go (sc8280xp @ 3.0GHz).
• Huawei Matebook E Go 2023 (sc8280xp @ 2.69GHz).

What is different from the rest of the Qualcomm laptops is that the Matebook E Go laptops use the embedded controller (EC) driver to control various device functions, while the other set of laptops use the PMIC GLink system.
