#Transport for #London (TfL) has released new data showing over five million trips taken on London’s rental e-scooters, covering 10 million km since the 2021 launch. #Wandsworth has joined as the 11th borough, adding 35 km² and 170 parking bays, expanding the trial to 300 km² with over 4,000 scooters and 1,300 bays. The scheme has a strong safety record, with just 0.0004% of trips resulting in serious injury and no fatalities. Over 94% of trips meet parking rules. Rental e-scooters, the only legal option for public road use, offer a greener alternative to cars. #TfL continues working with operators to improve safety and innovate, supporting long-term regulation to ensure high standards and broader access across London.

It ended up as part of a rather messy compromise - a result that had not necessarily been envisaged by the #nhs hierarchy. Evidence for that is that later that year - 1998 - it was discovered that no allocation of capital had been made for Queen Mary's. The then Chair of #wandsworth Community Health Council found himself having to go to the headquarters of the #NHS South Thames Region to extract £ 750 k from them.

I do not know what they are now, At the time they seemed to be lack of imagination. Queen Mary's, Roehampton had been deemed to have too small a catchment area to work safely and economically as a district general hospital providing a full range of services and closure was being proposed.. This was opposed vigorously be #wandsworth community health council which referred the proposals to the Secretary of State - the rapid diagnostic centre idea emerged then.
