GPs warn a £290m funding gap threatens the future of NHS Scotland - BBC News

"the funding which GP practices receive for every patient has been eroded year after year against inflation since 2008"

Now add in the extra NI payments, too. That's the UK gov robbing Peter to pay Paul.

90% of patient contact is through GPs and *that's* why it's a part of the NHS you need to support first.

The excellent NHS management “gadfly”, Roy Lilley, fired yet another blistering warning shot across the bows of Labour Health Sec, “Silly Boy” Wes Streeting!

“Streeting has confused the mission, banjaxed everyone's thinking and deviated from the true north... the principal task, waiting lists, crowded out.

Charmer will have to find someone to explain the failure, unpick the confusion and help the NHS to take-off, again”

Tory Lord Houchan claims on today's #BBCLauraK that #NHS waiting times have come down because the strikes have ended

That is untrue

By and large, the strikes had marginal effect. It was the substantial investment by the current Labour government that reduced the numbers.

In what is genuinely a shock, although a plesant one, I have just spoken to my GP, and they've agreed to the shared care plan my private provider requrested, and they will take over prescribing my #ADHD meds (Taking my monthly cost from ~£150 to ~£20).

Given all the press around the issues getting the #NHS to take people on for ADHD, I was resigned to them saying no, and me being stuck throwing money at them forever (Which I would have done, because the changes have been great, but its a massive luxury to be able to do that - and would put pressure on my finances if I ever lost my job, which would be when I'd most need the meds!) so it feels like a real win that they've accepted.

My surgical woulds are healing although I really do not care for the electric shock type pains that catch me out on some arm movements (Lymph node part of the sugery). I'll know about the next steps after my appontment with the consultant on 1st May. For anyone in the UK, please remember just how precious our NHS is when it comes time for you to vote in the upcoming local elections.
