‘Engineering marvel’ found in Scottish attic ‘one of three in world’

A rare #Victorian engine, one of only three on earth, has been found by accident in an #Edinburgh attic.

“Remarkably, this engine is the second-oldest surviving Crossley four-stroke #engine in the world and the oldest in Europe.

“Only two other examples exist, the oldest is housed at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan, USA, and another in Denmark.

"I wish I could believe you: the frustrating unreliability of some assessment research

At the STACK25 conference earlier this month watched Sally Jordan present the keynote. I was very impressed and found this research paper from 2016. The co-author Tim Hunt is the main architect of the and co-maintainer of the question type.

Conserving power is a theme, when living on a boat.

After a day of boating, you'd think it's OK to stop the engine right away. But sometimes it needs to keep running, to power electric devices that draw more than the boat's batteries and inverter can provide.

Some appliances draw a lot of electricity—a washing machine, iron, vacuum, toaster, microwave oven, electric chainsaw. I run these one at a time.

The situation on the Vulpibus is never cheap it seems, though we have managed to get some things for free there's some we don't expect to be free at all.

Things we need:

Plywood
Sheet metal
Angle iron
Screws
A towing dolly for our car to be pulled behind the bus
Oil filter
A full engine check and service to deduce where coolant is leaking

Can we say $2000 to cover most of this?

We are still months away from me getting employed in a job where the pay will be something but not exactly much in the face of inflation.
