Just about time for the final #AdultESOL class of the summer term. Great students, fun classes. Next weekend off, and then start the cycle again with a new group of 20 adult #immigrants #EnglishLearners

Also, go back to #k12 #ESOL (#ESL) job in early August. Looking forward to another year of working with new and returning English Learners (and their families) there, too.

The #CyberSecurity class (to teach college level to #HighSchool students) ends in about 2 weeks. Next starts in September.

#k-12 school year for teachers ended last week. My year ends tomorrow. New term of #AdultESOL / #AdultESL starts (for me) on Saturday.

#CyberSecurity class started last week. So far, so good. Pretty interesting. For this #CollegeCreditPlus program, I have to do 1 class in the fall, 2 in the spring, and the final one next summer. While working 60 hours a week. Not looking forward to that spring term at all.

Luckily, I've listened to #SecurityNow with @SGgrc for over 10 years.

Getting caught up on stuff I fell behind on while teaching that extra #AdultESOL class January to March.

For example, finally finished a script for #Google Sheets that will create Forms in the given languages automagically. Easiest way I know of to get multilingual Forms.

Next, a Sheets script to create Forms and email to editors and respondents.

Then, I'll create the diplomas in #Scribus. Use #ScribusGenerator (github.com/berteh/ScribusGener) to "mail merge" them.

My TTh #AdultESOL class finished Thursday. My SSu class finished today! I have two weekends off and have my TTh nights back (not doing that class again anytime soon - just too much during the regular #k12 school year).

So, of course, the first thing I did this afternoon was have #ChatGPT help me come up with #Mozilla #Firefox userChrome.js to make the keyboard shortcuts more like #emacs.

Also created a script to grab webcam frames for #conky to display (#fluxbox #linux) on the desktop.

Super busy this #AdultESOL term, but end is in sight. Final writing test for weekend class done today (now just have to grade 20 papers!), final grammar exam for weekday class is this coming Thursday.

Of course, still have #k12 day job - oh, lovely, the SAT is this Wednesday. I should probably also plan my reading class for this week. And check the #EnglishLearner testing calendar for this week.

I want a #Nnedi (AI agent from my short story) -like helper, please and thank you. Sooner = gooder.

Too busy with #k12 work plus 2 extra #AdultESOL classes each week to really get much else done outside of those classes. (Have made some new stuff for those classes, though.)

Not going to do 2 full adult ESOL classes during the k12 school year again any time soon. One on the weekend, that's my limit.

Also, standardized testing has started, so k12 work is so not fun for the next 6 weeks. Have had moderate success not eating the pop-tarts I get for the students, at least.

Short week for #k12 classes this week. Struggled to get my #HighSchool #EnglishLearners to free read today, but I expect that is mostly down to a 2-day week and it being Friday.

Prepping for #AdultESOL. Got a lot done during the 2 days off for weather, but now have to redo the course calendar that I just redid b/c we missed class on Tuesday. We missed Thursday also, for non-weather reasons, and so the redone calendar needs to be re-redone. Good chance to teach prefixes, at least.

Got a lot done on #AdultESOL prep (for both classes). Even recorded a video to help students get started with #GoogleDrive and #GoogleDocs. Created a couple of brainstorming worksheets, too.

I think I'm finding my footing with the #BESL8 class. It is an intro to writing class for students who are approaching college-ready English skills.

If I have some time tomorrow, I'll do some work on my #AgeVerification website idea. I'd like to get that on #NeoCities this coming week

Got a lot of work done today, too. Some financial stuff, some #AdultESOL prep, and even got mostly done with a video for teachers about unzipping office documents to get the pictures out. (Happens to me all the time, especially with presentation slides that I am trying to translate.)

For the record, #LibreOffice Impress has right click => Save for images, but Google Slides does not. Of course, right clicking on 25 images to save them all is not fun or a good use of time.

Need to be planning my second semester classes (#HighSchool #ESOL and #AdultESOL at the #CommunityCollege), so of course, I just spent a couple of hours adding several more fortune-mod files to my fortune web page.

Also practiced some #python - created a script to convert from the fortune format to #json.

Still some editing,
issues. But, that's going to have to be for another day.
