I have been using the related question intensely over the last few months. I had idly thought that it would be good to have an automated way of giving inputs and prts “sensible names”, i.e. instead of ans1, ans2 etc I could rename the input fields with things like width, area and have all references updated appropriately.

It turns out that the feature already exists under the menu Tidy inputs and PRT’s, wonderful!

A user of my question type (free text with feedback) was telling me how they supplied as much as possible of the answers in the to improve the quality of responses. This reminded me that no matter how interested I am in how my code is used, there is no substitute for it being used “in anger” by a real .

(*anger is used as a metaphor in this context, I prefer it if teachers are not actually angry using my plugins)

The meeting on 25th March 2025 started with Marie Achour discussing “Moodle Products' growth spurt". She covered plans to expand Moodle staff, focus on HE and the upcoming Marketplace for plugins.

Part 2 was Mark Johnson describing what is necessary to make type plugins work with the upcoming 5.0. This is important for anyone using 3rd party question types.

The map shows very clearly the scale of the industry of universities. Yes Walmart is massive but the amount of states/area covered by universities as lead employer is vast. When we think about edtech, and now AI apps sold as standard process for 'digital transformation', we can visualise the billions of dollars generated by this sales pitch. It just prints mountains of money.

"It would be built with top security protocols to make hacking unlikely, they said. Only select personnel — school administrators, mental health specialists and police — would have access to the information. The system would likely cost more than $10 million a year, with GEMHSA recommending that data be maintained until former students reach age 25." onlineathens.com/story/news/po #edtech #edusec
