Local update, Qt6.9.0 up and running!! Had been fiddling with this for a while, went over the Qt6.8.* releases that went pretty fine, this one had me puzzled because of the haikuplugin errors, with those "patched" time to run tests with it (probably not fully correct with my skills, but hey, it's working!) :👍

haraldei@baldrian% ./build/bsd-x86_64-server-fastdebug/jdk/bin/java --version
openjdk 25-internal 2025-09-16
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (fastdebug build 25-internal-adhoc.haraldei.openjdk)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (fastdebug build 25-internal-adhoc.haraldei.openjdk, mixed mode)

I guess that's a good start!

Managed to finally get the OpenJDK mainline to build on FreeBSD. (AMD64 only so far, others may work, but not tested.) The debug build is of course excruciatingly slow to work with, but it seems to load even graphical apps just fine. Here illustrated with OWASP Zap loading on the build on FreeBSD 14.

This work is sponsored by the @FreeBSD Foundation.

TBH the emulator-to-porter quality ratio is a tried and true method of seeing how badly a company can mess up in #porting a #game.

#Emulators try to recreate the conditions of original systems, like old #gaming consoles. That means it requires extra processing, sometimes much more processing just to recreate the same conditions.

But in modern times emulators have been putting #vendors to shame. The #RPCS3 emualtor is one example of it, and #ShadPS4 is another.

While I have no objections to the Breeze icon style from KDE (where there has been done a lot), people on Haiku have a thing with the Haiku icon style. Hence some experimenting with those.

Which one would you prefer? :) (well Haiku icon theme will be used anyway)

KDE updates at haikuports, after the update on the frameworks to 6.9.0 I've started out merging some gear24 libraries and applications for 24.12.0, expect some more in the near future (next one coming up is Tokodon).

For now NeoChat and Itinerary are updated and available for install on Haiku. Enjoy!

PS, for NeoChat's update I've dropped the KF5 version in favor of the KF6 version.

Update on haikuports

Iceweasel got a unofficial port and opens up a new web experience for Haiku.

KDE frameworks KF6 6.9.0 have been released to the Haiku public. Gear24 updates in progress.

Some packages got a revision bump to fix linking/building with ssl3.

One of our Haiku users is fixing tokio-rust for Haiku. Build is fine and test I've ran so far look promising.

RobinHood, an old time (native/basic) webserver, has seen some TLC and has been updated to the publc.

Coming up at haikuports, after updating nspr and nss (by Korli), I pushed an update for poppler-24.11.0, with the "fixed" nss package poppler issue seems to have disappeared, kudos to Korli for that!
Now with all in place let's check (upcoming) TeXstudio 4.8.4. Waiting for some comments on the PR before merging, but testing it here worked out find! :)
