#NewGearDay

Got this new toy in the mail yesterday, spent the whole day today (national holiday here in France) playing with it, and I have to admit I'm impressed!
(and as a former boutique amp maker, I have pretty high standards 😉)

I've already captured 4 of my amps, and the results are quite convincing!

Definitely not the same feeling as standing in front of a "real" amp, but I could very well consider using it for recordings, rehearsals & gigs 🎸

New gear day. Well first hard trial of new gear.

Backpack: Osprey Atmos AG LT

Shoes: Vivobarefoot Magna Lite SG through their ReVivo program

The shoes are dialed in as I've been out running in them a bit. For the backpack it is good, even when I've yet to dial it in it is nice. Pack plus gear 20kg (2kg+18kg).

Woo! All my custom string sets from #DRstrings finally came in. Along with the tapewounds from #LaBella. Maybe tonight I'll throw them on.

Also, bought a Greco GS940 #semihollow #shortscale #bass that I'm going to convert into a #fretless #cello. That'll arrive in a few weeks.

Another #electricBass will be on it's way soon. Details to follow. 😜

Oh. I decided on a whim to buy a new used #Behringer graphicEQ and #DBX compressor+limiter+noise gate. I feel like I stole them they were so cheap but, I know they were sitting around for a long time.

Traded in a hard case that came w/ my #Ibanez bass.

It's certainly been a #NGD #newGearDay !

Big #newgearday in my studio today! Finally decided to stop doing everything with an SM58 or SM57 like a punk, and I dropped $500 on an SM7B and a boom arm. It sounds sooooo goood, I've gotta go re-record vocals on everything I'm currently working on!

Shoutout to the #RunningRoom folks in #yeg for helping me find these beauties that fit like a glove. 🙌 excellent customer service & shoe selection.

Turns out the cushioning on my Saucony Grid Marauders was completely shot, which I realized when my new trail runners felt more fluffy than the road shoes 😂 so yeah! #newGearDay!

Was gifted some new #guitar gear! An #MXR 305 Tremolo pedal, a #Saturnworks dual footswitch (for the #Boss RC-5), and the BAS-1 amp stand.

The MXR tremolo is super fun. I haven't quite worked out the envelope filter mode (I don't have a compressor, but I don't hear the speed changing) but will keep at it. The Saturnworks needs a TRS patch cable, which I don't have yet, so haven't been able to try that out yet. The RC-5 is great, but I feel like I need to take a class on it!

#NGD! I bought this new "Kmise" brand tenor guitar from ebay for an absurdly low price.

at 30" long with a 21.25" scale length it's a little closer to an over-sized baritone ukulele, but it is indeed slightly larger than Kmise's bari uke model, and it's got a pin bridge with steel strings vs the usual ukulele nylon.

I'm pretty sure the body is all mahogany laminate.

It's a really well-made little instrument, absurdly well-made for about $70 shipped with a very nice gig bag. I haven't checked with a tuner but the intonation is spot-on and the action is nice and low all the way up the neck.

It sounds like you would expect a small-bodied laminate guitar to sound; not very loud and not a lot of low-end, but that's fine. I'll record something with a good mic once I've gotten to know it a little better.

I tuned it to #plectrumbanjo CGBD and it will be a lot of fun to noodle around with. Since the scale is something like 5" shorter than a typical plectrum, the strings feel very taut; plus they're steel, which my fingers are not used to. I'll have to research lighter strings.
