I just noticed this top-right reset-internet button on #CalyxOS. It seems to disconnect everything then allow then to reconnect. I don't remember seeing it on the regular Pixel Android... is it CalyxOS specific?

It was removed from Android years ago.
Some builds like #CalyxOS shoehorned it in afterward Google abandoned it, but it became increasingly buggy, and had to finally remove it a couple years ago.

@sesivanyblog mám osobní zkušenost: to jednou házeli špínu na chatu na F-Droid, tak jsem zmínil, že F-Droidu za hodně vděčíme. BAN přišel o pár sekund na to. Po x hodinách mě napsal někdo a místo omluvy mi začal vysvětlovat, jak to mají vývojáři GOS těžké, abych to pochopil. V ten moment mi došlo, že jsem s GrapheneOS udělal chybu a měl jsem zvolit tenkrát méně populární #CalyxOS . Chybami se člověk učí

#DeGoogle im Familienkreis: Gerade #CalyxOS auf Fairphone 5 installiert. Das ging überraschend einfach. Siehe https://calyxos.org/. /e/os ginge auch, siehe https://doc.e.foundation/devices, aber bis ich rausgefunden hatte, dass auch /e/os für FP5 mittlerweile einen Installationsprozess über Web-USB anbietet, hatte ich CalyxOS schon drauf.

@forteller @ueeu @DresdnerForschungswerk @murena @Fairphone Thanks! Yes, I've looked at #fairphone and #murena . Nice to see that there are options. Running android (I see fairphones can come with it preinstalled) would not be an option, but /e/OS looks interesting. How does it hold up #privacy wise compared to e.g. #GrapheneOS , #calyxos or #LineageOS ? Haven't tried any of those, just read about them. I see very polarised opinions when I search. Little balanced comparison. A plus that you can get a fairphone with /e/OS preinstalled, of course (It's me. I'm "moderately- or non-technical people").
Question to the #android #privacy #degoogle folks:
Are there any low-price devices out there that are reliably getting releases of a de-googled Android? #grapheneos only supports pixels, last time I looked #calyxos also only supported devices from the higher price range. Not sure what else there is out there. Being bitten by LineageOS ending support multiple times I would like to avoid that...
Asking because lots of older family members are using low-price devices (100-200€) and can't afford a pixel or similar (even if it lasts several years longer). Same with kids in the family, where the devices are not handled like I want a 600€ telephone to be handled :-)

@virgil_tibbs @d1t2 mit dem FP5 wäre es vergleichsweise einfach. Da wäre u.a. #CalyxOS möglich, was einen Installationsassistenten hat oder auch #iode @iodetech_de . Auch baut #Fairphone im Gegensatz zu anderen Herstellern m.W. keine Hürden ein für das Entsperren.

People who don't flash a new OS on their Fairphone 4 (and I can't blame them, it's not fun) are still on Android 13! I don't really understand why @Fairphone spends resources developing their own tiny tweaked Android and never being able to keep it up to date, instead of collaborating with Calyx or some other OS developer who are able to get out the latest releases.

Wo es irgendwie geht, nutze ich Alternativen. Was ich ankreide, ist, das es Apps gibt, die unter nicht mehr supporteten Smarthones funktionieren, bei alternativen (aktuellen)Systemen (ohne root) den Dienst verweigern.
z.B. diverse Banking Apps, besonders dann, wenn ich eine ausschließliche Online Bank nutze.
Durch die Hintertür brauche ich also wieder #google Dienste.

Ein wirklich tolles Gerät - nur die Maus auf den Tasten der Bluetoothtastatur ist etwas hakelig und an das Soundsystem von Apple kommt auch niemand ran. Hier wären die Laptops von @tuxedocomputers auch definitiv nen Blick wert.
My crashes from #calyxos on the #fairphone 5 have gotten better; if anyone has the same problem, I uninstalled paperize and turned off the futo keyboard. Not sure if there's really a relation, hope it helps anyone else.

With the latest update to #CalyxOS, to access the option to auto wipe a device after multiple failed unlock attempts, go:
Security - > Device unlock - > The gear beside screen lock - > Wipe on failed unlock attempts
