Our priorities on operating systems are a mixture of practical and highly-specific. The OS must:
Windows 10 Pro ticked some of these boxes, but not all of them. It's about to lose security updates later this year, refused to remember window positions, and had an emoji picker that limited which emojis it would display. We had to use PersistentWindows to restore application windows to the correct monitor, size, and position.
Windows 11 Pro meets most of these criteria to varying degrees. It's a bit trickier to edit its functionality versus Windows 10, but still doable with the right software, but it does remember window positions and sizes correctly... so far at least.
The emoji picker for Windows 11 is not a straightforward improvement over Windows 10. It does show newer emojis that the emoji picker in 10 refused to display, even with an updated emoji font installed, but it's less user friendly. We're going to install a custom emoji font to see whether the picker actively hides country flags.

#Apple Needs a #SnowSequoia
Same year iPhone launched, Apple unveiled a massive upgrade to #Mac #OSX known as Leopard, sporting “300 New Features.” Two years later, it did something almost unheard of: it released #SnowLeopard, an upgrade all about how little it added and how much it took away.
Snow Leopard did what it was made to do. It was one of the most solid software releases ever put out. One of the best modern #OS releases, period.
Apple needs to make it snow again.

@oliversampson
I don't see it necessary to have this in special, just for a clickbait name.
Fedora is Linux,
KDE is a deskop environment,
other software is FOSS too, maintanied by routined groups.
The "new" thing may be the software bundle, but this what every admin team in the world already is doing.
For public sector it is important to free or open or replace their unique used software for printing passports. There are enough office tools companies and private persons already use and made thread safe.
And I doubt there is a one fits it all solution for finance, energy, health and so on.
When to focus on an independent EU software ecosystem then eliminate in iteration gatekeepers with specialized teams.
@dosnostalgic
Those are the choices the bigCorp gave you but they are NOT your only choices.
You dont need to "recycle" the whole computer!
Words matter.
You need to change only the #os ,replace it with a version of #Linux.
They, the #bigCorp, are assuming that you unable to learn something new.
You either can make things happen for you or you can let things happen to you.
#democracy is more than voting!

Hi everybody! Here's the article we announced yesterday, covering the EU OS project.
https://the-debugger.ghost.io/introducing-eu-os-the-linux-distribution-for-europes-public-sector/
While there are some caveats, we believe it is overall a very valuable project, and an excellent initiative that aims to foster Europe's digital independence. So we invite you to check it out!
