We still have a large number of N-95/KN95 masks at home, but we've been through half of our stash (both of us still mask regularly). Time to stock up before their sale is banned in the US (with this federal government it wouldn't shock me).

Long Covid-19 Weakens Immunity In Children, Increases Risk Of Infections: Study

news18.com/india/long-covid-19

“The cold truth of the matter is that the motive behind COVID minimization is greed and social control. (…) Solving the pandemic was never in the cards for the capitalist world. Instead, the explicit goal of the ruling class has been to make the pandemic simply disappear from public perception.” Let Them Eat Plague! clarion.unity-struggle-unity.o

INIT HELLO, a convention about the Apple II computer, was just held last weekend. I was hoping I could attend, but didn't have the time.

It also had a better COVID policy than the great majority of cons these days and based on pictures of the event, the great majority of people were masked.

Good job, fellow old nerds.

INIT HELLOCOVID Policy - INIT HELLOIn consideration of the accessibility of the event and the health of our attendees, INIT HELLO has the following COVID policy.

Having Long Covid and other chronic illness in Sout Spain

Someone reach out to me via email and I explained my situation with healthcare in south Spain, I wanted to share it here:

Im in south spain and the truth is that I've been living on medical leave for quite a few years. In this case, there's a huge difference between the north and the south due to the medical infrastructure. In the south, there are more people, but the structure is worse, and they hire fewer staff. In the north, there tends to be more infrastructure, staff, money, etc.

All of this is in terms of public healthcare.

In my case, I've had chronic pain since I was 12 years old, but doctors never paid attention to it, and I didn't know how to insist because I was a kid. After six years of pain, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, but it was too late. It was so bad that I would have to undergo three surgeries in less than a year (for the first one I went to a private healthcare because it was April 2020 and my mom was terrified of me dying of covid, but they fucked up and I had to go to public healthcare at may 2th because I was dying for their negligence).

Are #yallmasking ? #Covid along with many other #airborne viruses that destroy immune systems (you’re immunocompromised if you’ve ever had Covid, by the way. Whether you care to admit it or not) are dangerous not just in the accuse phase, but chronically. Meaning…long term to forever.

If you’re not wearing a #mask in all public spaces, you’re not a #leftist , you’re not a #comrade , you are #ableist and you are #antiscience .

So if you want to be a comrad and not ableist, #wearamask #MaskUp

No estás solo”.

You have been sick for 4 years, bedridden for 2 months. Your heart rate reaches 150bpm from a trip to the bathroom. There are still people who have never heard of Long COVID and have no idea that this is the reality for 1-in-10 people after a COVID infection.” One comments says “I fully believe COVID is why my grandpa's dementia deteriorated so fast. what a horrible thing to deal with” Another comments says “I'll never forgive those who deny the existence of COVID” Comments says “I've been bedridden for 7 years with ME/CFS and dysautonomia. Mine is not from Covid but healthy people don't seem to understand (or maybe don't want to believe) that ANY virus can trigger the disease. Covid was a mass disabling event for many.” Comments says “I used to gym 6 days a week plus a 1hr walk on top 2-3 times a week before I got Covid in 2022 and ever since then if I even try to lift a weight, do a squat or anything like that it feels like the energy is being syphoned out of me and I start seeing stars, heart pumps, my ears thump and I almost pass out. Long COVID is real, I'm still trying to get tests done for dysautonomia. I'm a shell of who I once was. You're not alone” One comment says “i had long covid bad for at least 4 months and it took probably another 4 for me to feel like me again. i used to be extremely active and suddenly was out of breath crossing the street. i hope you have some treatments that help you and that eventually the long covid leaves you too.” Another comment says “i still struggle with air hunger every day. i had to learn how to breath differently to trick my brain”

On a related note, public service announcement:

Since covid, my body will randomly break into a sweat... unless it's actually hot apparently. 🙄 So I have to be really mindful to avoid heat exhaustion.

👉 A covid infection from 18mos ago has knocked out my nervous system's ability to regulate temperature.

So like, #yallMasking ?
And if yer not, please be supportive and understanding of anybody who still is.
This shit's no joke, yo.

Happy #DisabilityPrideMonth!
I am not disabled myself, but this #COVID journey we are on has shown me how some people have really stepped up with compassion, and, unfortunately, how many others (incl. govts) have turned their backs on the vulnerable. Let’s all think about our fellow humans with compassion and understanding. All of them. #disability #YallMasking #MECFS #LongCovid #accessibility #deaf #HearingImpairment #Inclusion (some tags that are near to my circle). disability.ca/disability-pride
