If you live in BC please please take a moment to tell WorkSafe BC that it is of life and death importance that healthcare standards reflect the info available in 2025 from the CSA, and not from 20 freaking 18

Input stops this Friday, Sept 26th - it's urgent!

More info and links to where you can give input: zeroes.ca/@DoNoHarmBC/11523989

Please! This advocacy could save lives!

  • and shorten hospital wait times, reduce healthcare worker attrition, the burden on society, and so on. But most importantly, respirators in healthcare will directly save lives. Share the link zeroes.ca/@DoNoHarmBC/11523989 for reach, too!

zeroes.caDoNoHarm BC (@DoNoHarmBC@zeroes.ca)Attached: 1 image ADVOCACY OPPORTUNITY: WorkSafeBC is revising some regulations, including its standard on respirators. However, because the CSA's newest (2025) edition of Z94.4 isn’t finalized yet, WorkSafe plans to use a soon-to-be-outdated 2018 edition – which doesn’t include the latest science on airborne transmission, and doesn’t require N95s by default in healthcare settings. There is time to ask WorkSafe to: 1. Delay the update until the CSA's new edition is out, or 2. Adopt the 2018 edition, and revise again once the CSA's new edition is published. The Moderna plant in Laval delivers its first COVID-19 vaccines

Radio-Canada
September 19, 2025

Moderna’s Laval plant has delivered its first doses of messenger RNA (mRNA) COVID-19 vaccines. The federal government hopes that the plant, which was built at a cost of $180 million with a $25 million investment from Quebec, will enable Canada to achieve pharmaceutical self-sufficiency.

Another study pointing out that Covid spreads in hospitals without proper vent/filtration...sort of like finding out that water is wet 🤦🏻‍♂️

Risk mitigation of shared room ventilation and filtration on SARS-CoV-2 transmission

Improved ventilation was independently associated with lower odds of SARS-CoV-2 infection among exposed roommates. Ensuring RMV is present and optimizing ACH may significantly mitigate the risk of HA-SARS-CoV-2

COVID-19 XFG: What to know about the new variant

The new Nimbus variant of COVID-19 is causing a sharp, ‘razor blade’ type of soreness in the throat,” reads a social media post from Yale University’s medical school. “The reason? The variant replicates in the throat lining, causing cellular damage.”

For those of you who have a 3D printer and would like a small air purifier: go look at this video and then buy the round filter and PC-fan of your choice (make sure it's 12cm).

The tricky part will be the power supply and for that you either have to solder your own solution or you can look on Amazon or if you don't mind paying a little extra, the fan manufacturer Noctua has a nifty little set: noctua.at/en/nv-ps1

I knew it was only a matter of time, and we only avoided it by the skin of our teeth last year, when there was an outbreak at our kid’s daycare. That doesn’t make it suck less:
As of today, our household no longer is COVID-free.
And thanks to our shambolic public health messaging (or should I say gaslighting?) on the topic, we haven’t been able to get boosted yet.

How do you build a C-R box in a region where furnace filters aren't commonplace?

I'm currently on the west coast of Mexico, in a very warm climate. The only air purifier I can find is an overpriced Dyson model at Costco with no specs. I can't find anywhere that sells furnace filters, presumably because nobody has a furnace, just air conditioning.

Got any clever hacks? Bright ideas?

edit: Ordering online via Amazon or similar is my fallback plan, looking for other options here.
