It's been a few years since I've sent mail from Canada but I'm finally getting back into postcrossing. I admit I'm a little shocked at the price increase since then. Probably moreso because the last international postcard I sent was from Japan, which was and still is around $1 CAD (¥100). But I also want Canada Post to survive and provide well for the employees. I just need to budget my hobbies accordingly.

Postal and delivery services are among the most exploited verticals in phishing scams. Our data show that USPS continues to be the most exploited delivery service, and DHL is a distant second. Canada is happy to not be the 51st US State but no doubt concerned to find its postal service #3 in the Hearts of Phishers. Oh! Canada!

Interisle Insights · Delivery Services PhishingBy Interisle Consulting Group

a few years back, I bought a $10 cable made by someone in the US. I was charged taxes upon import (like $1 or so). AND UPS charged me like $15 "brokerage fee". This was *on top* of already paying like $20 or so for shipping.

You know how much "extra fees" CanadaPost charges? $0. AND it's almost always cheaper than UPS/FedEx etc. I don't know why people keep insisting on trying frame Canadapost as "bleeding money", it doesn't bleed money, it uses money, it's a service, and just like any other service offered to the people, it costs money. Same with schools and libraries.

Canada Post employees better take the deal. The company is losing money and others in Canada are not even getting raises right now. Be thankful for the job you have. The company made you a stronger offer than most Canadians think you should get. We don't need home delivery you know! Id be happy with a box at a depot. Most of you can go if that happens so think wisely folks. No support from the public here.

@MisterD The drafters of our Constitution in 1867 considered mail service so important to the success of the new country they were creating they established the Post Office as a federal government department under Section 91 Federal powers. So the Post Office is a constitutionally mandated federal government department, much like the military. The requirement that the Post Office be profitable appears to have been added later, but without a constitutional amendment. #CanadaPost #Canada
