#bitmessage

As far as communication goes, I really liked #bitmessage which failed, in my opinion, because it was implemented as a GUI application rather than a library. And then there was #tox which failed because it was #gpl licensed rather than #lgpl. And that's where #deltachat comes in with the almost instant, hassle-free, on-boarding and true #e2ee. Understanding we have no access to whatsapp, customers are quick to install #deltachat and avoid all the drama.

Wow! It's been a long time since I heard about bitmessage again. But why? The security nerds should swear on it. It's fully safe, private and anonym, if you can say such things about software at all.

It seems it has been forgotten by many. But if you really need a good OpSec, bitmessage is surely a good option. And if you use it with tails (needs an installation of some packages) it's also easy to use.

@fabrice @gael @lordphoenix on the other extreme end of that there is #bitmessage but that seems to have died out. But I'd say using #deltachat is better than not using it when you're going to be using email anyway. The other thing is that, unlike Telegram and many others, e-mail is much harder / less likely to get blocked because the impact of doing to is to high. So if you live in a place where things get blocked (like myself) then delta is a good start. Telegram doesn't "just work" here.

@akatsukilevi @kat Personally, I've heard once of #GitTorrent before but like #BitMessage found it to be clunky, slow and ugly af.

#Blockchains - espechally #Bitcoin - are not efficient at handling many small transactions as is commonplace in #Git, and for #Authentification, #PGP and #SSH do work way better...

OFC someone could rework that to use #Solana or other stuff but I don't like #Shitcoins and the only #Cryptocurrency that I can take serious is #Monero which is designed to not allow tracking users and transactions!

Been reading a bit about #briar and am quite intrigued particularly by the forums and blog features. Messaging is cool too but not as ground breaking (see #tox, #bitmessage, or any number of secure messaging platforms). Played around with #ssb and in general anything that falls back to sneakernet grabs my attention with the age of censorship upon us. Anyway my link is in my profile if anyone's poking around with it; all of my attempts to add people have been timing out thus far.
