Sarah Dal<p>The oldest Oystercatchers have been discovered in the Wash in East England! 2 birds were found within 1 month of each other earlier this year; the first had been ringed in 1983 as a chick, while the second was ringed in 1982 as an adult - so it's at least 46 years old (!) and potentially even older. Amazing! </p><p><a href="https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/news/oldest-oystercatcher-discovered" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/ne</span><span class="invisible">ws/oldest-oystercatcher-discovered</span></a></p><p><a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/ShoreBirds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ShoreBirds</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Birds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Birds</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Ornithology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ornithology</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Banding" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Banding</span></a> <a href="https://ecoevo.social/tags/Ringing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ringing</span></a></p>

I hear a constant ringing
In my ears and in my head
A reminder of what I dread

The world is full of color
But I see only gray
Everything is duller
When joy has gone away

The days are long and endless
But I feel no sense of time
Nothing can impress
When nothing seems sublime

The people are kind and caring
But I feel only numb
Nothing is worth sharing
When hope has succumbed

@tanweerdar

We had a hollow time of it,
The #ringing of the plague bells
Up & down every street
Of every town & village,
The cathedral cities silent in the rain.

We had a bloodied time of it,
Secure in the dungeons &
Torture the crown reserves
For those who speak their
Minds openly next to
The eventual scaffold
While the ravens sing.

We had a deadly time of it,
Under the blade,
While the country, headless
In its lunacy, watched us
Executed in the name of
Peace.
