Instead of inviting guest speakers to give a lecture, hold an Ask Me Anything, where participants get their questions answered and needs met.

Every minute you're speaking solo at a conference session sucks up hours of people's lives. Is your content worth their time?

My friend Traci shares about a workshop that wasn’t. I explain what makes good workshops, and why to include them at meetings.

I give a lot of #presentations; to #retail execs, #startup #founders, or at #conferences, & while #GenAI has become an incredible tool for speeding up prep, I’ve found 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒖𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒔 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 https://www.linkedin.com/posts/shishs_what-genai-tools-can-and-cant-do-for-presentations-activity-7340920297350381570-AK7P?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop&rcm=ACoAAAA-mBkBD-GU_2lDGUH3NzxTnUUduSl5dLM #AI

Presentationsnerver … eller?
Markus Westergren var inte så nervös som han trodde inför sin första stora presentation.

What should be the mix of presentation versus interaction at meetings? Our culture now favors interaction—but our meetings haven't caught up.

Just joined Brenda Benham's online session on pitching for funding and it reignited my passion for crafting engaging #presentations grounded in the #BrainScience of making information stick i.e. #memorability
My journey in #storytelling is evolving, fueled by my deep interest in #PositivePsychology and #ContentDesign as a Learning Experience Designer. Whether it's solo podcasting or thinking about future media appearances (cozy, focused chats are still my preference), my foundation is solid thanks to BCIT's #PublicSpeaking course.
It's still wild to think that most people fear public speaking more than death. This was shared by the instructor and I keep hearing it from other public speakers I've met.
My key takeaway? Completing a course is just the beginning. Real growth / confidence happen when you consistently apply those skills. Keep practicing, keep experimenting, and those "aha!" moments will keep coming. It's leveling up your personal and professional growth!
What a great experience at the #IIIF conference in Leeds!

“I just let the data speak for itself”
Risky!
Different audiences will take away different meanings from the same data. The audience hasn’t got the time to consider all the nuances - cut to the chase and tell them the meaning they should take away.
“It’s more of a comment than a question.”
We’ve all been there – and you don’t have to put up with it. If you’re the speaker, you own the space. Tactfully suggest that you’re prioritising people with questions? Roll your eyes? Throw things at them? The choice is yours!
Requiring learning objectives for conference presentations sucks. They leave no place for passion, changing worldviews, or evoking action.
