You Don’t Need to Use #AirplaneMode on #Airplanes
Airplane mode hasn't been necessary for nearly 20 years, but the #myth persists.

I will honestly admit that I have never turned on airplane mode on a plane. Some do not include for the entire flight, but only for takeoff and landing and this also applies to #Bluetooth. I usually watch a series on headphones even before takeoff.

Gizmodo · You Don’t Need to Use Airplane Mode on AirplanesBy Maxwell Zeff

In spite every attempt to make sure that my phone would not go off with today’s #EmergencyAlert signal #test, my #iPhone screamed, when I later took it out of #AirplaneMode.

#Hyperacusis triggered, and I felt like I was jolted by about 50k volts of electricity, right down my spine

My body didn’t know how to respond for a moment, and it was all I could do to turn off the phone. My knees buckled!

From now on, I won’t be allowing emergency alerts on my phone. It’s entirely too #painful 😔

The approach to a small municipal airport stretches across a friend's neighborhood. When I'm walking through his neighborhood I occasionally find myself with a small jet flying slow at low altitude right above my head. It's kinda cool to be that close to a plane in flight as well as good birding practice 😉.

Can any jet-setters ID the plane type for a novice like me?

Europe says goodbye to ‘airplane mode’ so passengers can talk on the phone while flying.

The European Union will reserve frequencies of the new 5G network so that travellers can use their cellphones from the air.

The service will be offered using a piece of special network equipment called a picocell, which connects the plane’s network to the earth through a satellite.
