My interview with Jesse Meadows for 'Sluggish' is up! Podcast + transcript.

We talked about #WeirdPride, #monotropism, being #autistic and #ADHD, #flow states and a bunch of other stuff.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did! Jesse is an excellent interviewer.

Sluggish · "Autistic pride is impossible without weird pride"By Jesse Meadows
Replied to Jules

@quidcumque I'm a married Orthodox town-centre-dwelling leftist fantasy nerd, thought I was bi until the love of my life turned out to have been a woman all along, read Latin fairly well and Old Church Slavonic fairly badly quite apart from a number of more conventional languages, direct a church choir, write fanfic (not at the same time though the one is sometimes inspiration for the other). My hair has had exactly 1 trim this millennium. I wear only skirts/dresses, never trousers.

I'm a married Catholic suburb-dwelling leftist autistic sci-fi nerd, a bisexual agender parent-of-three chaotic good math prof, an excellent heretic, an Latin-reader, a writer of textbooks and fannish things, non-competitive to a fault and very awkward and shy in person.

Join us at the second ever in-person #Edinburgh #WeirdPride celebration at Shrub Coop, 6:30-8:30pm, Friday 7th March 🎉

Come and celebrate whatever makes you weird! Or the things that boring people find weird about you… That might be your passions and perspectives, your queerness or neurodivergence, the ways you exist in this weirdly normative world.

This is a chance to meet and spend some time with your fellow weirdos. We'll be providing crafting materials, so you can also make your own Weird Pride badge, or something else related to weirdness.

You might like to dress fabulously, but there are no obligations.

We'll be hosting an open mic from around 7pm onwards. Sign up here: forms.gle/U8uvQw5hJaj7f4SP8

I don't often post on Everything2 any more, but it was a huge part of my online life for a long time. I made many connections and friends there that I've kept up with on various platforms ever since. A bunch of my favourite weirdos.

So I posted about #WeirdPride Day:

Celebrate Weird Pride Day 2025 with Stimpunks

The 4th of March is Weird Pride Day. This is a day for people to embrace their weirdness, and reject the stigma associated with being weird. To publicly express pride in the things that make us weird, and to celebrate the diversity of humankind.

Welcome to Weird Pride Day! – Weird Pride Day

We are gathering for Weird Pride Day on March 4th. We’re hosting an all day online celebration in our Discord.
