Samsung releases One UI 8 Watch for Korean Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024)!

Samsung has corrected the delay issues for the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) users by releasing the corrected version of the One UI 8 Watch software that brings many improvements. Now, all Korean users will be able to enjoy the One UI 8 Watch update along with its new features and new design language that One UI 8 uses.

The following firmware information is available:

To install the update on your Galaxy Watch Ultra, we recommend that you do it directly from the watch while being disconnected from your phone (Bluetooth off) if possible, because errors could occur during the copying process. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the watch settings
  2. Navigate to Software update
  3. Press Download and install
  4. You should see “One UI 8 Watch”
  5. Press Download, and let it download from your Wi-Fi network
  6. After download is complete, press Install.

Make sure that your watch is fully charged before you attempt to do the update. Never interrupt the update process in any way, or problems could manifest later. The update process may take 20 minutes, and the watch may be “stuck” on the Samsung logo after the first reboot, which indicates that it’s loading the update.

Samsung will expand One UI 8 Beta Program to more devices

Today, Samsung officially announced in their newsroom blog article that said that they were expanding the Beta Program to more devices starting August 11th, 2025. The beta program officially started on May 28th for the Galaxy S25 devices. Just like One UI 7 whose beta program was made initially available only for the Galaxy S24 devices before the official expansion on March, the company wanted to expand the Beta Program of the upcoming One UI 8 software based on Android 16.

As per the official announcement, the following devices in Korea, the USA, the UK, and India (excluding Poland and Germany) will experience the One UI 8 Beta Program in this date:

  • Galaxy S24 / S24+ / S24 Ultra
  • Galaxy Z Fold6 (excluding Z Fold Special Edition)
  • Galaxy Z Flip6

The beta program will also extend to the Galaxy Watch6 and the Galaxy Watch5 smartwatches, which should happen later as they’ve announced it when they started the beta program for One UI 8 Watch.

Whereas the official version will be rolled out to all eligible Galaxy devices, starting from the Galaxy S25 series family, including the Galaxy S25 Edge, to older devices that will gradually get the update. This rollout will happen as the summer concludes itself, and September is the chosen month.

However, One UI 8 Watch will make its way to more smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch4, later this year. Those who have already participated to the beta program should update to the official version once it’s out.

Where’s the stable One UI 8 Watch for Galaxy Watch7?

Samsung has released the first One UI 8 Watch Beta update for the OG Galaxy Watch Ultra (2024) and the Galaxy Watch7 smartwatches. Since then, we have been seeing updates to the Beta version of the same operating system for both the Galaxy Watch6 and the Watch5 series, while the Galaxy Watch4 was being worked on simultaneously. However, at around July 22nd to 24th, Samsung has released the stable version of One UI 8 Watch for those who have the OG Galaxy Watch Ultra.

Since then, there have been no updates as to when the remaining smartwatches will get the revolutionary update. Also, when we investigated the latest test build information for the Galaxy Watch7 smartwatch, we saw that it’s stuck on the first beta version:

  • SM-L310
    • Beta: L310XXU1ZYFE
    • Stable: L310XXU1BYFE
  • SM-L300
    • Beta: L300XXU1ZYFE
    • Stable: L300XXU1BYFE

Whereas the following smartwatches appear to have their Beta development ongoing:

  • Galaxy Watch6
    • R960XXU1ZYG6
    • R950XXU1ZYG6
    • R940XXU1ZYG6
    • R930XXU1ZYG6

Note that there are no beta builds for One UI 8 Watch yet for the Galaxy Watch5 series, because the test server reveals:

  • Galaxy Watch5
    • R920XXU1DYG6
    • R910XXU1DYG6
    • R900XXU1DYG6

Users in the official Korean Beta boards for the One UI 8 Watch software were wondering if their Galaxy Watch7 smartwatches would get at least the “second beta” for the upcoming operating system that debuted on the Galaxy Watch8 smartwatch series. Posts like this were surfaced, suggesting that people were wondering if their Galaxy Watch7 would be updated to the newer build.

When something similar happened to the One UI 8 Beta Program for the Galaxy S25, an apology was made, and the promised release was made a week after the apology.

We expect that an official clarification be made so that those who have participated in the One UI 8 Watch Beta Program on their Galaxy Watch7 smartwatches can have their expected update soon.

One UI 8 Watch brings a design change to match the upcoming One UI 8 operating system for phones, while using the design aesthetics that come from One UI 7, which was released in April 17th.
