Dans un gros article d'intervention historiographique, Liliane Hilaire-Pérez et Catherine Lanoë reviennent sur la place des artisans et leur rôle dans les transformations techniques de l'époque des Lumières. En réévaluant leurs rapports au monde savant, elles mettent en avant trois thèmes qui émergent des études récentes : la captation des savoirs artisanaux par les mondes savants ; les relations de pouvoir qui sous-tendent la codification des pratiques artisanales ; et les ressorts cognitifs du rapport à la matière, au geste et à l’outillage.

In an ambitious historiographical essay encompassing six centuries, from the 15th to the 21st, Catherine Mayeur-Jaouen (Sorbonne Université, centrehistoire19esiecle.panthe) proposes to identify, through a regressive-historical method, the moments of rupture and the continuities in the construction of an historiographical understanding of Islam. It allows her to propose a new understanding of "Islamic reformism" and a decentered narrative of Islam and "modernity".
