Another cable damaged in the Baltic Sea.

C-1 Lion 1 cable between Finland and Germany was damaged in the Swedish economic Zone. It was previously damaged in November 2024

Officials were notified of the incident yesterday.

An investigation is in progress.

Prime Minister of Sweden commented on the incident:

COO of the cable's owner/operator Cinia clarified that the cable has been damaged, but not cut, and is still carrying data traffic normally.

Presumably this means some sort of surface damage to the shielding layers. How it has been detected is unstated. Undersea cables are complex multilayer constructions.
