Is there an ethical alternative to #Cloudfare?

@somenxavier well no but also I'm at not at the stage where I need it at all? I've noticed that people—especially firms setting up websites for non-tech folks—seem to set up #Cloudfare as a knee-jerk reaction like "what if you get DDoSed??` but in most cases I don't think it'd be a disaster even if DDoSes happen 
@badrihippo@fosstodon.org@somenxavier not sure about extra bills from malicious traffic; there should be some way to tell your hosting provider to stop when bills reach a certain level...
Also, I've heard some folks talk about #BunnyCDN though, if you really need a CDN
