@kev I like it!
I am always a little curious as to the point of a personal webpage when you can rely on social media for a presence. What is your primary motivator for investing the time and effort?
@JasonBrewster @kev social media can and will pull the proverbial rug out from under you whenever they feel like it. You’re not in control of social media.
@flamed @JasonBrewster Exactly what Flamed said. I’m fully in control of the content there. I see the shorter notes as a record of what’s going on in my mind at the time, I suppose.
You know, I think I’ll write a blog post about this actually.
@kev @JasonBrewster I’ll read it
@JasonBrewster @kev also because it's fun?
Kev's answer on this inspired me to share my thoughts as well to give more perspectives.

Publishing on Social Media is subject to whatever publishing agreements are in place. Including the solvency of the publisher itself. You can only "rely" on the social media as much as you can "rely" on the publisher agreement.
Self publishing is subject to a much simpler agreement: "I own the domain, I own the site, I publish what I want".
Both models represent different ownership agreements, so both models will continue to exist.
