back to some videos with and it has improved a lot since I touched it last year!

I'm making coding tutorials for youtube and kdenlive has everything you'd need.
The workflow combined with KDE's Spectacle is very pleasant: screencapture -> import clip -> place and right click transform to compose the view.

The stability improvements are very noticeable as well. I've had some crashes last year but not this time around!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for Kdenlive

@wraptile Huh, TIL Spectacle can record the screen (and works with Wayland).

@wraptile Your post could also qualify for #libremonday! ✨

Kdenlive is really great! I've also used it for editing coding lessons (though I record with OBS, just to have a camera in the corner), and the workflow is so, so pleasant! (: Glad to hear it works well for you too!

@bojidar_bg I use obs for camera recording ad well! Though I separate screen recording and video as the latter needs a lot of takes to get right 😅

The droidcam obs plugin is great which allows to turn smartphone's camera into a video source so really you can develop coding videos with very little resources and free software!

@wraptile Ahh... yeah. I'm currently recording both at the same time, but splitting them is much better in the long run, yep! 😅

If you are recording from the phone... why not record _on_ the phone itself? (Perhaps with scrcpy to see the picture on the computer.) That way you can probably record a higher resolution, without being limited by the computer's CPU and/or hard drive. (unless you have hardware-accelerated video encoding and an SSD, that is 😅)—tho, syncing sound might be a pain after..

@bojidar_bg yeah I've tried that but I couldn't find good recording apps on android. I use background blur and some color adjustments on OBS which makes the process pretty easy. Then just plop the video the kdenlive and apply circle mask and transform to make my face a little circle at the bottom right.

Currently my bottleneck is cutting up the video takes as that's a lot of manual effort but someone in this thread recommended trancoded audio cutting which might solve this!
