@fatboy I am currently trying to transition from Windows to Fedora and have seen the exact same "reboot to apply updates" -> "updating, dont turn off" behaviour there three times over the last two weeks. So I don't see how Linux is supposed to be superior in this regard.

@DaAnda @fatboy It depends which OS you choose. Fedora and some others do this (I'm not sure why); other GNU/Linux distributions simply install the updates while the computer is running, and they take effect the next time you reboot, with no extra time.
