We ended with a head-to-head bidding war; A—‘s Open Betli ended up beating my 20-100 Four Aces. And we would have set him, too. My partner, who will go unnamed, overlooked the one lead that would have forced A— into a trick.

What fireworks! We ended with back-to-back Betli/Durchmars bidding wars, both starting with trifling Passz bids by the opener.
In the penultimate hand, Open Durchmars won the auction, but B— was one card short. Then, A— (in his first appearance) was high bidder with Open Betli and laid out a nearly perfect hand, good enough to win without having to play a card from it.

We had a great turnout at our biweekly game—two games of four going!
With two first-timers, we got to durchmars/betli by the end of the evening. I solemnly swear that next time we’ll get to all the rules.
E— ended up successfully making Open Betli. Those sorts of hands are tremendously entertaining to watch.

A lot of high value hands today—the gods were favoring us!
My nadir was when I bid 20-100, and would have made it too, but crossed my own wires and put my 20 in the talon. I (slightly) made up for it by finishing the hour with a successful 40-100 Ulti—though I can’t say it took much skill to bring it home.

We had six, with a nice range of total newcomers to folks who had played with me several times already. We started at the very beginning of the curriculum; by the end of the evening we were playing with Betli and Durchmars.
The last hand of the evening was the most exciting: K— and I got into a bidding war, negative against positive, until he bowed out at my Redurchmars. I managed to make the contract for the biggest score of the night.
