In retrospect it surprises me that Mauricio #Macri supported gay marriage and #INADI sent a gay couple to #TierradelFuego so they could be #Argentina's first legally married gay couple.

When Macri became president I thought he was just like Trump and Bolsonaro, but he never tried to get rid of same-sex marriage or trans rights.

Now "libertarian" Javier #Milei has dismantled INADI and also is hell bent to rid Argentina of #LGBTQ.

Shifting the #Overtonwindow.

In #Chile, the #history of #Selknam peoples on #TierraDelFuego goes back 10,000 years. Decimated by #genocide in the 19th century, the #Indigenous group is currently #reviving, thanks to the families’ efforts to #reconstruct their personal histories & articulate their communities’ values.

The Selk’nams are also organizing to prevent the commercialization of their image & combat the ignorant view of them as an extinct tribe of Indigenous people with painted bodies.
