Mum and Dad used to #hire #punts on the #Thames at #Henley and #Wey at #Guildford and #Godalming and take we three children on picnics during the 1950s, so we were used to day trips on small open #boats, but the #Llangollen trip was the first time we'd been near a #canal or stayed overnight on a #boat

Taking place shortly before my 14th birthday did make it a pretty formative event.

#Púnts were so pretty! It is sad in a way that each nation lost their national currency. But I understand why they introduced the #Euro though!
