Back home, first consolidation chemo done. Feel pretty wiped but numbers are great. Back to tracking and mixing the new record. Mostly duets w Danny Gotham, a few w full band, then each of us w a solo track or two. Here’s a demo/preview of my “solo” track. Two #lapsteel tracks, two “#acoustic #guitar tracks. A #shakti cover.
I love playing on my lapsteels I have 3 of them tuned differently and 2 with resonator cone (spider and single biscuit) most of my musical instruments are among the few newly purchased things here at home.

Unfortunately I can only look at it because Spotify wants me to log in there. However, I don't normally listen to music on online services but prefer to listen to records, music cassettes, CDs, the good old radio and in my favorite jazz club and various pubs, so there is no reason for me to give them my data. Surely you also have some of the Cowboy Junkies' first albums on your playlist?

So very sad to hear of Bruce Piephoff’s passing. He was a brilliant and much beloved singer-#songwriter here in North Carolina for decades. I was privileged to play #lapsteel on a track of his a few years back. He was so kind and encouraging to work with. I’ll post that track here but his entire catalog is worth digging into.
Quick post as I went out hiking today & it's almost wine o'clock. If you need a serene Sunday soundtrack then I highly recommend sinking into this one take moment of ambient magic from the ever reliable Lake Mary & his lapsteel, who was obviously vibing with the multi-talented filmaker Pinyonpine wielding his wooden synths. Update: The ten mixes have been approved apart from a small change to one of the arrangements. “The #LapSteel is too distracting,” says the producer who requested “a plaintive slide effect” on said track. I’m sorely tempted to put a distorted #Synth in there instead just for a laugh.
But no. It’s a reasonable request, and a billable change. I’ll plug in the #Telecaster, bend some notes, and fade it into the background.
Been #mixing part of a client project this afternoon. Got three songs done, and even had the fun of tracking #bass on one of them. Mixed two others earlier, so that’s half the album complete as of today. I think there’s some #guitar and perhaps a #LapSteel track left to add on the remaining five. But now I’m thinking more about #dinner than #music, so here’s a good place to stop for the time being.
