I figured out what happened. When Donald Trump got elected, a new branch of the time continuum got created. Not unlike the branching you see in books like "The Peripheral" by William Gibson. I'm not sure what I was doing that day, but somehow I ended up on this branch. My apologies to all of you, but I'm going focus on getting my life back to the original branch and leaving this one behind. I'm working on a few different ideas around how to hop branches and am making more and more progress every day. I had an epiphany while listening to "Miserere mei, Deus," which I learned about from reading "Martyr!" by Kaveh Akbar. I think I can transport myself to the time when Miserere was written by listening to the emotional weight of it. Something about the harmonies, the lengths of the notes and the timbre of the choir connects me back to when this piece was first composed. My plan is to connect mentally and then transport my body. If you want any tips on how to do this, let me know. It's just really important that I get off this branch soon. Thanks. #fiction #williamgibson #kavehakbar #timetravel #music #trump

@CassandraVert So, some of my autistic co-workers love it. But personally, I've read too much #WilliamGibson, and also articles about how dependence on AI is #DumbingUsDown. We should be exercising our brains to find answers on our own, imho. Use it or lose it! However, on the other hand, it's hard to think fast and clearly when one has "stress brain" -- which happens to me in social situations. I've found myself relying on Google search results (before AI) when I worked in a library -- people want answers, and they want them yesterday! However, we need to balance the cost to our brain power, our environment, energy usage, etc., with whatever benefits that can be provided by AI (as you mentioned).

In this clip from the new episode of the Spotlight On podcast, Terence Hannum of Locrian discusses his band's initial improvisational phase, which evolved into themes of post-capitalism and urban decay, and recalls a pivotal high school moment when he was introduced to William Gibson's sci-fi collection Burning Chrome.

I just finished reading William Gibson - The Peripheral.

I had watched the TV show, but the book is very different. It's very Gibson though.. a clash of monolithic shadowy power structures whose actions are narrated to us by the innocent pawns conscripted into the war.

And a happy ending where a closed negative reality is replaced with an open unknown future but in a way that is more a regime change than a radical revolution.

Also it's very much a fairy story.

Quemando Cromo – William Gibson (1986)
