The bullhorn-powered war of words between Satanists and Catholics boiled over into brawling and a handful of arrests Friday during an extraordinary event at the Kansas Capitol that pushed boundaries of free speech and the separation of church and state.
Important contextual information here is that Schroeder is a "Warrior for Christ" Christian extremist already arrested once for calling in a bomb threat on a Pride event in Wisconsin a couple years ago, not just "some helpful guy":
> Online records showed that Stewart, 42, was jailed briefly Friday afternoon on suspicion of disorderly conduct and having an unlawful assembly, then released on $1,000 bond.

There’s an unfortunate tendency of people to say:
a) “Satanist”/“Satanic” to just mean “thing I don’t like”;
b) “(nazi) SATANISTS? how alarming!” missing what’s truly harmful here;
c) “Those are fake satanists. Only Anton LaVey and the Church of Satan…”; or
d) “Real Satanists are the good guys — more Christlike than Christians, even”
Your mileage may vary on which of these misconceptions is the worst as it likely is highly context dependent. But if you are in liberal and leftist spaces, it’s likely you’re going to be running into Option D most, and yes, that one is also quite bad.

Any #satanists have book recommendations? I own Anton Levay's satanic Bible but I don't know if there's different core texts for the different types of satanism. I liked Levay's stuff but I understand him to be a problem. However, you can't name an affluent figure from the 1970's who's not a problem

That's just refactoring texts on #chaosmagick and #occult practices like #EnochianMagic and #aleistercrowley or even #nietzsche in order to give #atheism a cause to defend.
If so called #satanists read other #books u'd see what I mean, and would have better criteria before flagging the Name. But you probably won't since LaVey said it's all made up bullshit.

For us, the exciting part of this story is seeing more people kind of take satanism into their own hands and create something they want to be a part of.
Satanism doesn't *need* to be incorporated; the Left-Hand Path doesn't need to be an Ltd. with a boss or owner.
