people who don't speak both might not realize, but #spanish and #japanese have very similar phonemes for the most part, which has lead to a very funny bit of cross-talk #slang in my family. Growing up, my mom would call robes in our house, "Gimonas." I just assumed this was a normal spanish word until I got to school and realized nobody else had ever used that word before. It wasn't many years later, when I took japanese in college, that the word "gimona" made sense.
