The TransSisters issue on Michigan Womyn’s Festival is so interesting to me because I became aware of that controversy much later on, in the early 2000s so I’m gaining a lot of perspective finally reading direct testimony from people who were turned away from the fest in the early 1990s. I remember Camp Trans that formed to protest the festival.

Being in the punk scene, I thought of MichFest as a 2nd wave feminist hippie scene. I never cared about it or went. Some punk bands (maybe Team Dresch or the Butchies) were asked to play in the early 2000s and I believe that’s how it became a heated issue in our scene. Anyone out there remember this stuff? #GenX #Queercore

"Love, like identity, takes all shapes, forms, themes, and patterns. Perhaps for no other community is love more self-defining and confining than the queer community" (Poetry)

For #pridemonth , Poetry magazine has put together a selection of queer love poems, sorted by themes, which you can read free online, right here:

Africa: 7 Queer African Works of Art - New Directions in Books, Films and Fashion: [The Conversation Africa] Queer African creatives have been making their mark around the world through a range of forms - books, films, fashion, art, music. Their work wins awards, sets trends and is studied by scholars. Most research on African queerness, however, comes from outside the continent. newsfeed.facilit8.network/TKnw #QueerArt #AfricanCreatives #LGBTQIA #AfricaArt #QueerCulture

Prenez bien soin de vous un max et soutien aux adelphes ❤️

Zines are an important way of tracking history, particularly the history of social movements — they were crucial organizing tools for protests and community action as well as vehicles for artistic expression. Now, they're becoming part of museum and archive collections. Atlas Obscura discusses their importance for queer and trans communities in the past and today, where they're enjoying a resurgence. "We’re all the voices that don’t show up in other media and presses,” says Milo Miller, co-creator of the Queer Zine Archive Project.
