On the #OddBunch fruit/veg-box front, we've skipped the last two weeks due to overdosing on grapes and cucumbers.

Looks like our old friends grapes and cukes are in the next menu too, so I've gone the substitution route this time, and will get a box come the weekend.

I've missed the Saturday surprise when the box arrives, but it was also nice to pop into ProduceDepot again and share some love with their bottom line.

Curious how this goes. I seem to live in the same top-level postal code (K2G) as the #oddBunch people, and their veg delivery boxes are collecting in my garage.

They already re-use cardboard boxes - they're always labelled as chocolate bars and candies, presumably from some candy distributor.

I hope I can drop my collection of 15 or 20 boxes off for another go-around rather than send them to recycling.

Yay, our #oddBunch box arrived! Short on warning text messages this week.

Had just walked in the door and got a text – finally, I thought. So I checked to see when it was due. It said instead "delivered." What?

Turned around and it was there. Magic!

Looks good - had substituted more potatoes to replace zucchini.

@stephanie @cynthb.bsky.social My this week. Seems slightly larger than usual but I asked for potatoes to be swapped for a second asparagus. And I got potatoes anyway. Maybe they forgot to take them out or maybe potatoes were also the surprise ingredient 🤷‍♂️

Quality is good overall. A few nicks on the zucchini skins. A few of the grapes are starting to go brown but not many. The asparagus is slightly spongy with hard ends. Trim the ends, stand in water. It'll be fine.
👍

Wouldn't be Saturday without sharing the box of fruit and veg we got today from #oddBunch.

Only substitute was extra Brussels instead of grapes, which we were still working on from last week.

We're overloaded on cucumbers now so need to find a cuke-intensive recipe for something.

Curious what we'll get in our #OddBunch veg&fruit delivery tomorrow.

I tried to do a couple of substitutions but I realized the substitution form was stale. So I ended up substituting stuff out of the box that wasn't even on the menu this week. Could get almost anything. lol

@ZebKing I understand much of our fresh produce is imported from the USA. A Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) system is a great way to buy Canadian produce. The downside is they are only available in the local growing season. I subscribe to a similar service that provides a mix of local and "imperfect" produce in a weekly box for my family. While it is still mostly imported produce, the idea is that it decreases the waste. #OddBunch #CSA oddbunch.ca/

i have fruit-and-veg withdrawal, as I elected to skip the #OddBunch box delivery today, as we catch up on our surpluses. Next week! Looking forward to it already.

I wonder if that supply is going to be affected in a trade war… although perhaps in a positive way if more Mexican and South American produce is available due to reduced customers being able to afford the self-inflicted import-taxes in the US.

It's veggie/fruit day. Got our delivery and got them all put away. Oh, it's a little dark in the paper bag - red grapes in there. A nice treat, haven't had grapes in a while.

Might need to skip next week's delivery, as we're getting a little backed up on inventory and try to run a zero-food-waste household.

Charge coming through for the #oddBunch veg & fruit box reminds me to check if we want to do any substitutes this week.

We still have lots of lettuce, so swapping that out for some green beans. The rest should be fine. Lemons! Haven't seen those in the mix for a while.
