okay, it's definitely no #fruitsbasket but I got through the first season of #horimiya okay, but the romance plot is sloooow and the first season rushes through to graduation (it's set in a high school) when the two mains are already well established in their relationship, then season 2 jumps back and is just one aimless "slice of life" quickie after another? I looked it up and apparently the anime showrunners assumed it wouldn't be a hit anime for some reason so they skipped a loooot of the source manga in the first season, then went back to a lot of the skipped parts for season 2, which they skipped because they didn't have much overall bearing on the story, hence why season 2 is pointless. Now I'm reading the webcomic the manga and then the anime was based on, but the fan translations are very spotty (they did, like, chapter 1-29, then it jumps to 50, then 121??) because different sub groups picked up then dropped it, and I'm not sure I'll continue after I hit the first big break. Then I'll probably try the manga, though maybe after I give it some time to forget what I just watched.
Either way, I prefer manga usually since I can just skim through the boring parts (like fight scenes ), but after I somehow got obsessed with the fruits basket remake, I decided to give some other animes a try, but I'm having trouble finding another I haven't already seen that has a decent romance subplot but actually has other meaningful stuff going on and isn't just "slice of life"...I hate being so picky, it's the same with fiction novels too, there are sooooo many things in a story (writing style, 1-dimensional characters, written in first person and/or present tense, on and on...) that can completely turn me off and make it hard for me to stay engaged with the material

@SophiaHoppia I liked it a lot but I would've preferred a "season 2" pushing the story forward
After half a year, I'm finally catching up with #Horimiya Piece. I'm at episode 5 now.
It's really cute. I just wished I remembered more of the main anime #Anime #AnimeVany
Horimiya: Piece
Not a season two but more of the season one. Equally good and funny.
Although I would have preferred if they had moved the story forward.
With an 8.20 out of 10 on MyAnimeList Horimiya is a sweet slice-of-life / romance series about a group of friends in high-school.
I’ve binge-watched this anime in two days and enjoyed it quite a bit. It paints sweet romance stories that we all wished we had back in high school.
Should you watch both Horimiya and The Missing Pieces in chronological order? No. And I explain why in my review of The Missing Pieces.
Horimiya: The Missing Pieces introduces some new characters who weren't in the original season. In this review, I highlight four of them.
Horimiya: The Missing Pieces covers the parts of the manga that were cut from the original Horimiya anime. It's like Ranking of Kings: The Treasure Chest of Courage, which did the same.
