Mail In Voting
In 2024, early mail-in voting timing had a huge impact. By the time Harris started seeing a late rise in support, nearly half of Americans had already voted. With voting open as early as September in some states, voters had cast their ballots during Trump’s polling surge, often locking in their votes too early to catch Harris’ final campaign messages.
With late-deciding voters missing her last push, early voting timing arguably tipped this election.
This was particularly true for Latino voters who were the largest shift in support from Harris to Trump.

#Georgia #Dekalb County #EarlyVoting Update:
Voting ends at most polls, but not all. Some polls have been delayed closing due to various issues.
If you are a voter and trying to determine if your poll is still open, please check with your county's election office. This account cannot provide an up-to-date list of polls with hours extending beyond 7pm.
I've hesitated updating the #Dekalb early voting figures in the past couple of hours, as it became clear that figures were being delayed. While these vote count figures are sourced directly from the county, information is not available on the cadence or reliability of updates.
That being said...as of now, Dekalb is reporting 67,349 votes recorded. This figure will likely change when I click the Post button, so please be advised.
With some polls closing after 7pm, it is likely that not all early voting data will be available. Analysis will be provided as data is available.
Can someone use #AI or #OCR to get the actual numbers into #alttext ?
As a #blind #voter who encountered issues at the polls this #election cycle, this information would have helped me greatly. I went to #vote on the first day of #EarlyVoting
Our county uses #verity voting equipment. This includes an #ATI - #AudioTactileInterface. A #voter can listen to the ballot in any of the four supported languages and use a dial and button to make their selections.
Because of past experience with intrusive #ElectionWorkers, the first thing I do is turn off the screen. It didn't help this time.
My particular #ballot style had 72 items. I don't remember the number of the item I was on, (First Court of Appeals, Place 9) when one election worker told another that I would need help. I said aloud that I did not need help, and that, if I did, I could ask for help at that time. Someone said that the machine might "time out" (which is not true - this is a misunderstanding - when a voter is qualified, they get a code to enter into the machine. That code expires after 30 minutes. I'd already entered it). At that point, I very carefully completed my ballot, then took the time to ensure my selections for all ballot items were as I intended. It took me about an hour overall.
I tried to file an #ADA #complaint. I asked the election workers for the complaint form. They did not provide it, and did not believe they had such a thing (they are supposed to, I've served as an #ElectionJudge - there is a stack of them in the same folder as the required ADA information that is to be posted).
They gave me a phone number to call, and the person taking my report understood me to say the equipment had timed out, so the fix was to replace it.
The ADA complaint form is also on the website, where I did complete it. I wish I'd had a voter protection number to call.
5 Reasons #EarlyVoting Is Overwhelmed With #Election #Misinformation
More states have embraced early voting and mail-in voting since 2020, inadvertently creating the kind of tense and confusing exchanges that spread wildly online before the facts are known.

Harris County fell about 200,000 votes short of 2020's early voting record, data shows. Other counties were also down in 2024 compared to the last presidential election, despite an increase in registered voters.
Holy crap. For the record: The rain is NOT keeping folks away. By my count, @Jillianmarisa and I are 144 and 145 in line. Though it looks much worse. #VoteEarly!
Yay, @Jillianmarisa and I are heading out for #Missouri #EarlyVoting. It’s raining so here’s hoping the line isn’t hours long like it was last time we tried.
Anyone have opinions on who we should vote for?
