Airport Hopper bus services (linking Dublin Airport with both Maynooth and Tallaght) have ceased due to financial difficulties.

"Officially, bus company Dualway holds the licence for the airport hopper routes, but said it sold the licence to operate the Maynooth/Tallaght to Dublin Airport routes in 2021 and that it is no longer responsible for them."

In his written ruling, Mr Justice O'Donnell said the potential consequences of a potential breach of the planning conditions does not outweigh the highly probable and very serious adverse consequences of failing to grant a stay in these proceedings. "Those consequences extend beyond the immediate serious effects on the applicants, but include serious disruption for the public and potential harmful effects for the broader economy," he said. "In those premises the court is not satisfied that the asserted public interest in compliance with planning conditions properly operates to outweigh the established risk of very serious injustice that attaches to not granting a stay," he added.

In the last 48 hours we've seen the head of the Dublin Airport Authority claim that Ireland's hosting of Euro 2028 games could be jeopardised by the passenger cap, and Michael O'Leary claim that Leinster Rugby are flying to their European games from Belfast because of the cap.

Neither UEFA nor Leinster Rugby have commented on these reports.

This smacks of a coordinated PR exercise and the Irish media have taken the bait, hook, line and sinker.
