It's really important for Democratic politicians to understand that the Manchin-Barrasso Energy Permit Reform Act is political suicide for Democrats on both the left and the right. It's one of the most aggressively anti-populist bills I've seen in ages. It's written by fossil-fuel-industry allies on behalf of the fossil fuel industry, with a Project 2025 laundry list.

Say: “I’m urging ___ to oppose attaching Manchin’s dirty permitting deal to the end-of-year spending bill. I'm deeply concerned about any legislation that would fast-track fossil fuel projects and undermine our ability to give input on new energy projects.”

@climatebrad FYI it looks like Manchin is trying to modify the #DirtyDeal to get Republican votes instead of trying to get the rest of the Democratic caucus on board:

Be really helpful if he did something to narrow the scope of his permitting changes to set a national standard on transmission, and leave out the fossil fuels parts. But he went in completely the opposite direction.
