Had to bring down the #CommonsComputer and boot it back up again. Seems postgres + node related and tied to an update?

@billseitz probably a more direct prompt for all here then is - what baseline do you want? How do you want to participate? What new things do you want to try this year?
Plus — which parts of #CommonsComputer are interesting beyond Mastodon / TFT?
@billseitz thanks for all this.
And yeah something along these lines.
Here in year 2, the vision “those who care will (must) engage”.
eg just figured out @anish can likely turn off his FreshRSS install and use the #CommonsComputer jointly hosted one
The TFT is a sub focus within CC. I’m not worried about numbers, more interest. If 50 people show up for TFT then the resources will be there to run a dedicated server.
I totalled up all of the costs for hosting #CommonsComputer. $550.32 per year, or $45.86 per month.
Which is pretty good for all the stuff it runs! There's no way I'd be able to keep all this stuff updated without having Cloudron just take care of it for me.
I know @billseitz already saw this, tagging @jslr @abesamma as other active users of this instance / members of #CommonsComputer
I’m going to send you all invites to this Outline space for discussing running this Mastodon server and other resources. https://fed.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:2cxgdrgtsmrbqnjkwyplmp43/post/3leu47auf3327
The shared instance I’ll use across projects that I’m working will be part of #CommonsComputer - the Cloudron instance I’ve been running for a year. Here’s the list of services running there, published via Outline.
My takeaway from this? I'm looking for at least one other person to admin #CommonsComputer with me, preferably with raw Ubuntu server management and troubleshooting skills!
OK, all the services on #CommonsComputer Cloudron are slowly being brought back up, including this server.
It was rock solid for a year, but a recent automatic update did _something_, and load spiked, which caused the VPS host to throttle it.
I had to kill services at the docker layer and slowly bring them up and let Cloudron update them.
@aynish as well as Merveilles, I’d love to talk about #CommonsComputer that I host things on.
Kind of thinking we should do a home lab / self hosting meetup at some point for #DWebYVR - would you be interested?
Updating my profile on the CalDotCom booking calendar I self host on [[Commons Computer]] and once again really impressed at the feature set.
Next up: [[Daily]] as Zoom replacement (this powers Cal Video).
@yala @rosano I call my little hosted Cloudron server #CommonsComputer
Platform Commoning resonates! I’d perhaps think about Protocol Commoning too ;)
Thank you for sharing!
If any new followers who are participating in the longest thread ever on slightly experimenting with software funding and ownership are interested, I help run a Canadian co-op that is member owned and hosts a Mastodon server, CoSocial https://blog.cosocial.ca
This server I host along with some other apps on a system I call the #CommonsComputer
It’s powered by #Cloudron, for which I pay a subscription in exchange for maintaining and updating both the server & all the apps that I deploy.
I just did a deep dive into Dropbox alternatives, especially those that are open source and could be self hosted, with an additional focus of what’s available on Cloudron.
From a turnkey / ease of use perspective, it looks like Nextcloud is the main answer https://commonscomputer.com/t/exploring-dropbox-alternatives/26 #CommonsComputer
Installed linkding shared bookmarking on the #CommonsComputer
As written up in the link, I’m still working out how to describe these shared services.
I have an OpenCollective for #ToolsForThoughtRocks but want to set things up that people can join the commons generally. https://commonscomputer.com/t/linkding-installed/25
@aynish @shauna Cloudron means running & managing an entire server, so this only makes sense if there’s other stuff you’re hosting as well.
Depending on your needs Shauna I could host an install on #CommonsComputer - DM me if you want to explore that. I’m actively looking for people to share my server with.
Thanks Aynish!
This #ToolsForThoughtRocks Mastodon Server is already hosted on the #CommonsComputer server.
If anyone wants to get involved with #fediverse enabled #podcasting with #Castopod, read the post from my other account https://cosocial.ca/@boris/111622442894403000
Or leave a comment in the forum https://commonscomputer.com/t/shared-castopod-fediverse-podcast-hosting/21
I do have a Cloudron self hosting server of my own I call the #CommonsComputer
If you’re interested in starting a shared international #Castopod server, I’d be open to hosting that.
* looking for 3+ people interested
* we pick a domain name
* 3 people @ $50 for a year should cover things

We did a bunch of stuff live on my own test server at #CommonsComputer
So here's the first post from the amazing "Boris Self Hosting" podcast, which you can follow directly @bmannselfhosting
Note: not a real podcast :) @rndeon followed along as we pushed some buttons to bring this live.

@roland I’m running the Fission PeerTube on a Cloudron instance.
If you want one on the #CommonsComputer let’s talk
Messing around with Penpot now that I have it running on Cloudron.
