Just something I’m curious about. Have you voted, and do you respect your government?
Local elections matter! Voting accomplished. #vote #civicduty #election
I'm sorry, Americans. If you think that allowing this madness to run your country is the lawful and civil thing to do, then your laws and civilization are fucked up. And you cannot ask any better of other fucked up nations either.
The time is past due to admit it and do something about it. How you handle this adversity will define or destroy you as a nation.

I would remind my countrymen, that they are to be men first, and Americans only at a late and convenient hour. No matter how valuable law may be to protect your property, even to keep soul and body together, if it do not keep you and humanity together.

Stand up, speak out, and wear your values proudly with a bold statement for those who believe in justice, freedom, and the power of the people — because democracy thrives when we defend it together.

When people see only what they want to see, your contribution as an extra independent pair of eyes becomes incalculably important. #civicduty
As American rule of law faces turmoil, we must also ask: What does rebuilding our democracy look like? Let’s think critically about our roles in making that vision a reality.
For of course it is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen.

THE END - A short story
A handful of decrepit old men decide to enslave the world in #tyranny and suffering.
A few more join them in hopes of getting a piece of the action.
Many more carry out their orders, telling themselves they aren't responsible for their actions, hoping to be slayed last.
The rest sigh and stare at their feet, waiting to be slaughtered.
The End
A quotation from Watterson, Bill:
«
CALVIN: When I grow up, I’m not going to read the newspaper and I’m not going to follow complex issues and I’m not going to vote. That way I can complain when the government doesn’t represent me. Then, when everything goes down the tubes, I can say the system doesn’t work and justify my further lack of pa…

In a frank internal meeting, The New York Times wrestled with its political role | Semafor

As today is the last day for early voting in Ohio, I figured I’d go vote today instead of on Tuesday. You may not have noticed, but this election is rather huge and important, and I didn’t want to get stuck running to the Ohio National Guard armory after work Tuesday evening and stand in line for who knows how long.
I pulled into the Medina County Board of Elections parking lot at 3:18 this afternoon. I was greeted by this site:
The line to vote at the Medina County Board of Elections on the last day of early voting in Ohio. That front most line of people you see are outside of the setup the BoE put up, so the line was actually longer than planned for. Good thing I brought my e-reader.
Throughout my way through the line, one of the poll workers, Bob, would talk to the people in line. If he found out they were voting for the first time, he would make a proclamation, similar to this one.

By the time my spot in line made its way into the BoE building, Bob had proclaimed the 858th first time voter since early voting began nearly a month ago, a record for Medina County.
Once I was inside the building, about an hour and a half after I got in line, things moved quickly. I showed my ID, picked up my ballot, popped it in the voting machine, filled it out, turned it in, and got my sticker.
You can’t say you voted without a sticker, right? And now, it’s all over for me except to wait for the results.
