@yshui My opinion: humans can potentially develop AI which can decide one day it doesn't need humans any more, but to say that we need to talk about it now before it's too late is part of the hype since all we've been seeing recently is more accessible AI rather than actual huge progress in AI as often claimed.

@clive_dent i see. so basically people are taking the warning for risks as saying AI will grow (in economically relevant capability) very quickly.

i guess then the strategy is probably to emphasis AI can get very dangerous quickly without being useful first.
