#30DayMapChallenge, Day 15: #OpenStreetMap. Thought I'd showcase both the richness of OSM data and the capabilities of rayshader. Five overlays on shaded relief—roads (line), buildings (polygon), woods (polygon), rivers (line), and historic sites (point).
Can you guess the city? :)
#rayshader adventures, an #rstats tale
@terence Awesome animation!
@terence love it! Is it just me, or does the whole thing continue to turn very briefly at the end of the animation?
@stevefaeembra Thanks Steve! Hmm, it's not supposed to given my code—an illusion perhaps?
@terence yes, I think it's in illusion. It's like the eyes get used to the spin and expect it to continue. It's like my brain extrapolated the next frame, then realised it doesn't match reality, and then scrambles to undo
It's why I usually make my turtable animations seamless, although that wouldn't work here. Bezier easing might reduce the effect, where the rotation gradually slows
@terence Lovely!
