The construction on NM4 apparently cut into our existing middle mile yesterday, so the whole county was without internet or cell signal (all providers except the county's microwave link, which residents can only access at county buildings like the library) all day yesterday.

It was bound to happen. I hear the for county underground services is chaotic and tends not to be shared with contractors doing new work. I don't understand why: the county has a very good fulltime GIS specialist, who could presumably map everything if they gave him the data, but apparently the different departments don't share information very well.
