@agluszak@fosstodon.orgWhat if Spotify instead of producing a **viral** summary of your listening stats once a year gave you direct access to YOUR data? Or even better: what if all service providers were *legally obliged* to have a publicly available APIs?
@agluszak I mean if you're european I think you can probably send 'em a GDPR request for your data.
@geewee maybe I'll try it just for fun, but there's a huge difference between "go through email hell to get a zip with random data thrown in" and "have an official API and be able to use it to build your own apps"
@agluszak Oh sure, just wanted to point out that you can get your data - not that it'd necessarily be a pleasant experience. Although they do seem to suggest you can just grab all the data from your settings page: https://support.spotify.com/us/article/data-rights-and-privacy-settings/ - haven't seen what's in it though
@michcia of course that would require legal work, but I'm not a lawyer nor a politician, I'm a programmer and an activist
