Hello #fediverse friends
I guess and also hope that the #Twitter desaster has at least one good side effect. The shift of the paradigm about how we use the #web, #internet, and #socialmedia as a whole. No matter what happens to Musk's playground, people start to realize that we need more independent and #HumanCentric systems, where we OWN the data and not ARE the data.
I think we now have the big chance, to influence this movement into a direction that fits for way more people than the old.
If we manage to make it easier for casual users to join, and eventually create interfaces with a human first approach to interact with the different services, that would be a great thing.
I just started a project with the working title #ItIsMine (a bit silly I guess ) on GitHub. It's almost nothing there but I will work on it as much as my health will allow. Basic Idea is to collect ideas, feature requests and valuable information about the topic. It's #opensource and I will post a link soon.
@MarkusEicher if we're not the data, it's going to be harder to finance no?
@rufen No doubt. That's absolutely true. We need to find solutions for that problem.
@MarkusEicher the biggest privates communities are private torrents sites, they rely on donation, but they kinda sell a product too.
@rufen I would not rule out an option to have a certain amount of commerce on a part of the platform at this point. It's just a matter of who controls it (eg. not a single #bigtech company) and if it's transparent and have easy options to opt out from it. This are exactly the kind of questions and discussions I would like to host in the #ItIsMine project.
