hi! decided to set up a mastodon account
I'm using linux with tor (+ some custom python scripts) as I try to stay private online
expect some posts about programming, privacy, etc.
not sure what to do just yet, but I hope this will go well

@stringintinfinite welcome! All the Linux kids are here, lurking around every corner. In case no one has pummeled you with this piece of advice yet, following hashtags like infosec, Linux, whatever else you’re into will populate your feed with interesting stuff and people.

@Jackiemauro I followed the tor hashtag pretty much right after creating this account but yeah I should probably follow a few more
@stringintinfinite yea I mean 100% up to you how you want your feed to look. But since nothing gets pushed to your feed it’s often the easiest way to find people.
@Jackiemauro what other ways are there to find people to follow? I tried the people section of the explore page but I couldn't find much there

@FediTips might have more advice, i definitely used hashtags as my main tool.
