Having the oddest internet problem. Some sites are just inaccessible. I can't go to flathub or download from the Packman repo or go to strawpoll. Also the LanguageTool has stopped working because it cannot connect.

It happens across all my devices, so it's not a Linux problem. All other websites, at least so far, work just fine. I have no clue what is going on.

@thelinuxcast so changed dns servers network wide and on openSUSE itself, and still have the issue

@thelinuxcast Does it also occur on the mobile phone connected to WiFi? If so maybe something with DNS setup on the router or router in general? Could be something with Pihole or something similar if you are also using it.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org Sounds like it's either DNS related, or you'll have to talk to your ISP.

@thelinuxcast@fosstodon.org

Sounds like a DNS issue, try clearing your cache or change DNS provider to see if that solves it

@jase yeah, changing dns didn't work. And it happens on all devices so the cache thing won't work either

@thelinuxcast is it a Comcast (cable internet) issue? When I lived out that way I always had issues with them.

@thelinuxcast @jlw_the_jobber my friends have been having similar issues down here near Southfield. They noticed issues last few days now.

@thelinuxcast are you on an IPv6 single stack network or device? Strawpoll for example has no IPv6 address listed

@thelinuxcast Usually when you see that sort of thing it is either a major internet outage somewhere, or a DNS resolution issue. In the latter case you can configure your browser or your computer to use a different DNS.

@thelinuxcast If it's house wide, could you try resetting the router or checking any firewalls.

@deadvey Yup, did that a couple times. Gonna have to contact the ISP

@thelinuxcast Interesting dilemma. I'm a cable guy that cosplays as a homelab enthusiast.

I'll save you the 20-30 minute hold time or automated hell. Your ISP will find you guilty until proven innocent and more than likely suggest that you disco any network gear and physically connect to your modem. Will require a few reboots of the modem.

Might be worth a shot.

@thelinuxcast I just did a Zypper dup, so no problems here.

@thelinuxcast you've been homelabbing. Anything network related? Pihole, adguard, firewall?

@darthkielbasa No, nothing like that. Nothing has changed on the network outside of going up one Internet speed plan a few days ago

@thelinuxcast what the culprit, bro? Inquiring minds want to know!
