AAARGH. Things not to figure out AFTER your trip.

See this little switch on top of my TG-6 rugged ? It turns on GPS logging. That logging happens even if the camera is 'turned off', which means it'll drain the battery just sitting there.

And this camera cannot be recharged by USB. You need a dock for the battery (which I didn't have).

I was only able to use the camera one day of a 7 day vacation, because this switch was ON. :( :(

Sorry to hear about this. However the camera you describe here is similar to the TG I purchased for my wife some years ago. It is actually made by Olympus not Canon and the battery can be charged in camera although Olympus recommends their own charger (standard manufacturer disclaimer).
