It's time supported multiple domain names per instance, allowing the users to use their own domain name for identity.

Mastodon is actually further along this path than many other projects, but its legacy of using handles as persistent account identifiers instead of ActivityPub IDs is also holding the ecosystem back. @takahe remains the gold standard.

@nilesh this is nonsense. because domain defines the server address. that's it. it's not some stupid user's fit, but a global network rule.
if someone dislikes the domain, he goes and buys his own domain he likes and there run whatever he likes.

@iron_bug I am afraid I still don't understand. Perhaps you should elaborate on the GH issue which was created by (creator of Mastodon) himself.
